What an AWESOME day! Today was dry and beautiful outside. Washington this time of year can be hit or miss, I take that back…everyday in Washington can be hit or miss. After a late night making a grocery list, picking up house, and everything else that comes along with being a mom of 2 under 2 I was really scared for what Madelyn, Alex’s and my temperments were going to be like…haha, you NEVER know…But Thankfully, we were all pretty good!
Alex and I got to spend some quality time together after dad went to work and Madelyn slept in a little later than her usual 7 am self. When breakfast rolled around I was stumped as to what to serve…I opened the fridge and VOILA! to my surprise realized we had a little leftover breakfast casserole from Sunday Brunch. (An experiment and concoction from Pinterest, of course!) Since Alex and I woke earlier than usual…he took a pretty early nap, leaving Madelyn and I to playtime in her room…
A task I’ve been meaning to do…toy purge. Her room has SO much going on…from dolls, to cars, to coloring books, to princess houses and WAY more…it’s no wonder I can’t leave her and Alex to play by themselves for long, they can’t seem to focus on one thing to play with. I’ve gotten half way through sorting and donating stuff. I’m going to check out target for some cute and practical storage bins.
After volunteering in Madelyn’s preschool class last week I realize toddlers need access to only a few toys at a time, and it benefits mom with not having so many toys to sort through come nap or bedtime. I’ll be sure to take some pictures through the process and post what my struggles or successes were.
Since the day got SO nice, after lunch I decided we could get some energy out outside…heres a few pictures…Madelyn’s “thing” lately has been dressing herself and you could DEFINITELY tell today hehe…and you can see her haircut that she gave herself a couple weeks ago is STILL coming in terribly. These pictures really show off her mullet, but I love the enthusiasm I see out of her when she tells someone she cut it :o) Alex got to experience the little tykes slide we bought 2 winters ago off Kitsap Buy/Sell/Trade today…and he discovered Madelyn’s gardening rake while outside too…

We ended our great day with a delicious New York steak dinner accompanied with roasted asparagus, sauteed spinach, and buttery mashed poatoes…I was so stoked when Madelyn asked me for what it seems like was the first time ever, “Mom, what is that? (looking at the spinach on my plate) Can I try some?” She took a couple “adventure bites” with me tonight…and SUCCESS! she ate the sauteed spinach right along side the other veggies and steak on her plate :o)
